I most like to shoot in the winter months. The harshness of winter intrigues me. It is a time when you get “all or nothing”. What your images lack in colour they gain in raw emotion. Limited light makes shooting challenging but the shadows are dramatic and the images striking.  It is exhilarating to be out in the wind and snow documenting the effects of a winter storm.

January 2010
I travelled to Gravenhurst in Muskoka region of Ontario, Canada. The weather was terrible in the morning and I witnessed numerous car accidents on the highway. It was cold, snowing and the wind made visibility poor.  I was worried that the photo shoot would be a ‘bust’ but fortunately the weather improved.  Gravenhurst had received a foot of snow overnight and was bitterly cold but the wind had subsided.  I took some wonderful shots of wildlife in the snow throughout the forest. It was very quiet with only the occasional creaking of the trees to compete with the sound of my camera shutter. It turned out to be a fantastic trip.

March 2010
I travelled to the Grand Canyon and Sedona, Arizona.  I was overwhelmed by the beauty of the canyon and the red rock landscapes. It was the perfect holiday for a photographer.

May 2010
I travelled to Chicago for a holiday with family and friends. It was a fun filled time and produced some interesting images from there. Chicago is a wonderful city and we were treated very well.
